NATHANAEL: From Bigot to Believer (Disciples, E8)

in Uncategorized

Getting to Know the Disciples, Episode 8: Imagine the disciples sitting around a campfire one night when one of them asks: “What did you do when you first heard of our rabbi, Jesus?” Some might recount stories of dropping their fishing nets and following him, others of leaving a job or hometown. And then Nathanael pipes up: “When Phillip told me about Jesus, I made fun of his hometown!” This story became well-known enough that John would recount it decades later in his gospel! But the first interaction Nathanael had with Jesus wasn’t just memorable—it was moving. What did Jesus see in this young man? A student? A skeptic? A bigot? Actually, He saw a man of pure intention. And Nathanael’s response to Jesus was instant and profound. Join Brett Clemmer as he takes on the next disciple in our series on the 12.

The Secret to Leaving a Legacy

in Paul & Timothy: Passing the Torch

We all want to get to the end of our lives and think, “I did all I could. I’ve got nothing left. I gave it my all.” And we want God to look at us and tell us we lived in a way that pleased Him. So what do you need to do now to leave a lasting impression later?

This is the substance of Paul’s advice in one of the last parts of his last letter. Writing from prison, he tells Timothy in vivid language that his time on earth is over, and he’s satisfied with his life. And he tells Timothy how to achieve the same result.

Join Brett Clemmer as we explore Paul’s exhortation to faithfulness and his example of legacy, as we continue to explore the lessons of spiritual fatherhood together.

The Process of Making Disciples

in Paul & Timothy: Passing the Torch

Who is God? What is He like? Can we have a relationship with Him? If so, how? How do we become godly men, husbands, and fathers? How can we find work that satisfies and honors God? What does God want us to do? What do we tell others?

The process of answering these questions is what we call “disciple making.” If not for the Bible, we’d be left to guess at the answers. Fascinatingly, Paul conflates the entire disciple-making process into just four verses! Join Patrick Morley as we start looking at Paul’s final words to his spiritual son, Timothy.
